Pan Asian BJJ Tournament Rules

These rules apply to all events.

Legal Techniques:

·All arm, shoulder and wrist locks
·Any chokes
·Straight ankle locks ( Purple belts Absolute only)
·Inner toeholds and kneebars ( Purple belts and Absolute only)

Illegal Techniques: disqualification

·Slamming when in the guard
·Eye gouging or fish-hooking
·Striking/ kicking or hair pulling
·Biting , Scratching
·Small-joint manipulation (fingers/ toes)
·Heel hooks or twisting kneebars
·Neck cranks
·No grabbing the ears
·No kicking from guard
·No touching the groin area

If the fighter breaks the rules he may be immediately disqualified

Points (positions must be held for 3 seconds):


·Mount 4 points
·Back mount with hooks in 4 points
·Passing the guard 3 points
·Knee on belly 2 points
·Sweep or reversal (From Guard/ Half Guard) 2 points
·Takedown 2 points

Penalties:

·Running from the fight -1 point
·Competitor or coach arguing with referee or other official -1 point
·Stalling stand up
·Holding position for longer than 30 seconds without moving is a warning,
·Penalty allocation 2ND warning advantage to your competitor, 3rd warning 2 points to competitor

To Win: (referee’s decision will apply if drawn)

·Submission
·Points
·If competitor breaks the rules
·If competitor is unable to continue
·Advantage (determined by submission attacks, sweeps and takedown attempts, and aggressiveness)
An unsuccessful attack that caused the other competitor to defend can be called an advantage such as a half guard position for the person on top)

Time Limits:

·White belt 5 minutes
·Blue Belts 6 Minutes
·Purples and Absolute 6 Minutes
·Rest time between fights minimum 5 minutes

Belts / Division BJJ

·White Novice
·Blue ( or Black belt in Judo )
·Combined Purple and Brown
·Absolute White - 1-2 competitors to represent their academy only (any or weight can enter)
·Absolute Blue - 1-2 competitors to represent their academy only (any or weight can enter)
·Women's Open Belt -58 kg
·Women's Open Belt +58 kg

Competition

·Weigh in just before your first fight
·All competitors to wear a Gi , Judo or BJJ Gi, Minimum length 3 finger from wrist 2 fingers wide
·Mat area 7 metres x 7 metres (includes one metre safety mat) if fighters go outside this area the referee will restart the match in the center of the mat, in the same position that they left the mat. If fighters where standing, they will restart facing each other.
·Knockout competition, no repecharge (winner only through to next round)
·Two 3rd places given to the last person who fought in the semi finals
·Minimum 5 minute rest time between fights
·Draws posted on the wall
·Two weight divisions fought simultaneously through to the finals
·2 minute call time allowance (if fighter does not show, he can be disqualified)
·No Break for Lunch

Call Times;

·8:15 am - Novice (Athletes assemble)
·8:35 am - Rules Meeting
·9:00am - Warm up
·9.30 am White belt division to start
·11:00am - Purple (Athletes assemble)
·12:00nn - Blue (Athletes assemble) Absolute Division will run at the end of the day

NB: Check your weights on your application form, no changes allowed on the day. If you do not make weight you will be disqualified and will forfeit your entry fee.
